Tea Sea Records label boss, Tom Caruana, follows up and surpasses his massive Guardian/ NY Times-featured Wu-Tang/ Beatles Enter The Magical Mystery Chambers LP with Okayplayer – The Bollywood Remake. Again it’s a project in the tradition of Dangermouse’s Grey Album – you should know the drill by now – take famous hip-hop emcees – in this case the likes of Q-Tip, Black Thought, Mos Def and Common (among others), and rework their acapellas over other stuff – in this case some funky Bollywood shit. Basically, it’s all Al’s Tikka Grill needs (on top of that fly-spotted Athena poster of the white Lamborghini Countach by the Golden Gate Bridge) to provide me with the perfect curryhouse experience. Pretty much essential listening for 2011. The whole thing is available for free download at Tea Sea Records – although you do have to register.

Look out for the forthcoming Beastie Boys vs. The Wombles and Nas vs. Thai pop covers projects. Actually…I might have made that last bit up.
