The Allergies seventh (!) studio album Freak The Speaker is imminent, dropping later this month, but it seems there’s still time for one more single entitled Let Me Hear You Say. Oh, what, as in, “Let me hear you say, ‘Yeah!'” Well, pretty much, yep – in fact, more accurately, “Let me hear you say ‘hell, yeah!'” In short, a song based around one of hip-hop’s most tried and tested call-and-response audience participation strategies. Of course, for full brownie points, you’d want a disco-funky old school beat to underpin the whole thing, some scratching and some 808 claps – don’t suppose there’s any chance…there is? Glorious! If you caught Lack Of Afro’s equally excellent Take It Up A Notch a few years ago featuring Wax and Herbal T, this is very much a sister track to that – a three and a half minute late 70s/ early 80s block party all by itself. Also comes with an instro version while you’ll be pleased to hear that the vocal version will form one side of the next Allergies 45 – more on which soon.
