Hot on the coattails of previous single (stonking ESG-by-way-of-Chaka Khan bomb Shake) comes RETI’s new one My Home. Or rather two, since it’s a double single and the digital ‘B-side’ is Party People (Going Home). My Home starts off with a deceptive ballad-style intro but transforms into mellow late seventies soul within twelve seconds and possesses a soaring hook that’s all summery etheareality whilst also being a paean to RETI’s younger sister. On the flip Party People is, as Shake was, another collab. with producer Martin Laksberg. It’s also just as squarely aimed at the dancefloor with it’s bass-slapping, synth-swirling funky disco sound dedicated to party-goers everywhere who’ve been telling their mates for the last two hours that they’ll, ‘go home in a minute – just one more dance/ drink/ etc. You know who you are! And you can check RETI in person at the London Jazz Cafe next month on the 10th and 13th where she’ll be the warm-up for Evelyn King – cop tickets HERE.
