QUASAMODO feat. THALIAH: My Friend Is Blue (2014) + The Big Picture LP

My Friend Is Blue Quasamodo Thaliah“My friend is blue!” sings Thaliah on the new Quasamodo single of the same name. It’s probably safe to assume that said friend is neither a smurf nor an alien so I guessing they’re feeling a bit moody. Certainly the the smokey atmospherics (both musical and lyrical) of this latest Q-funk groove would suggest the latter. It’s all bluesy/ jazzy piano, noirish strings somewhere in the middle and a surprisingly uptempo break throughout. I vote Quasamodo and Thaliah for the next Bond theme. Now there’s a thought. Remixes on a disco tip and breakers tip from Rayko and Soopasoul respectively.

Oohh yeah – while you’re reading – this is actually the second single and opening track off Quasamodo’s second LP for Jalapeno The Big Picture. So stealthy has the release for this been however that the LP is currently being courted by the intelligence agencies of several powerful nations. It’s all the more surprising given that it delivers thirteen tracks of accomplished nufunk mainly aimed at the the dancefloor including a monster cover of The Barkays’ riposte to Isaac Hayes – Son Of Shaft – see Juno player below…
(Single out 19 May / LP The Big Picture out now both on Jalapeno Records)
