LES IMPRIMÉS: With You + video

Continuing in a chilled vein today, here’s Les Imprimés’ new single out now on Big Crown. With You, finds Morten Martens providing blissed-out vocals about the pleasure of a loved one’s company over polyrhythmic soulfulness with a surf-pop hook. But how to represent this via the audio-visual medium? Perhaps the feeling of freewheeling carefree-ness and the adrenaline bump of being with said person could be best captured by footage of Martens gliding around on the second most annoying form of modern transport. That’s right – the electric scooter. For an extra frisson, he’s managed to make said vehicle even more dangerous by balancing a common-or-garden table chair on the scooter and sitting on that. It’s clamped to the scooter though, right? Clamped, yeah – for safety? Ooh. No. He comes a cropper at 1:15 and we’ve all learned something about scooters and perhaps symbolically about relationships to boot. Still, the sombre darkness depicted during the equally sombre outro suggest that maybe the lesson has sunk home after all. And at least he’s not driving a bloody SUV.
