Long time readers of MB might remember the name discObeta – an outfit who’ve been responsible for some absolute monster tracks on the hip-hop/glitch-hop axis – though much less so of late. Don’t mistake that for a total absence from the music scene though for one half of the duo – Scott Marz – is currently running boutique imprint Pollypreen Recordings and recently put out a single from the studio project he was invoved in prior to the advent of discObeta going by the name of Le Grand Jones. The track is The Words We Lost and features a vocal turn by Rane Hussell. But while it still rests on a syncopated drum rhythm this is far from discObeta’s pyrotechnics and more your Smoke City-style trip-hop type affair and one that displays fine pop sensibilities to boot! Check the suitably dreamy video below.
