KORALLE: Perfections EP (Vinyl 7″)

Jazzy beats and hip-hop from this new 7″ release on the Little Beat More label in the shape of Koralle’s Perfections EP. A three-tracker, it kicks off with the piano-led dusty breaks of the title track which draws inspiration from mid-late 90s trip-hop era. Second cut Leaf is in a similar vein, featuring more ivory tinkling and snatches of both male and female vocals but what this drop is really all about is third track From The Heart on which jazzy downtempo instrumentalism is much enlivened by the addition of bars from Brooklyn rapper Awon – who has turned up on a number of Little Beat More releases – telling everyone how he came up and all about his skills on a mellow brag-rap, “I got critical focus, poetic, lyrical, digital dopeness.” They’ve also managed to squeeze a fourth track on, Come Back To Me Baby, which the PR describes as ‘a homage to the blues and black music roots of the 1950s,’ though there’s no audio yet. The release’s coral-themed cover art comes courtesy of Bernardo “Beerbo” Raspanti.
