Itchy Bastards, there’s a name to conjure with. Not that it’s one the monkey has for – oohh – about ten years or so though since their appearance on the Funk Blaster label’s Squad release from 2014. But here we are with new 3-tracker God Bless The Bump just before 2024 closes its doors using a trio of cuts from the final years of the original funk era as its source material. I Wanna Be Your Witch is a super bass-heavy with distorted vox while middle cut Tropique is a mellow synthfest. It all ends with the uptempo ironically-titled I Don’t Like Disco which pits ten cubic centimetres of vocal against a pumping four-to-the-floor mirrorball-friendly beat.
