CANTRIPS: Snake Skin

The second slice of Melbourne material this week comes from psychedelic outfit Cantrips – last heard of round these parts on the For Private Use Only single from last year. New single Snake Skin is a slightly different kettle of fish. The psychedelic aspect is still very present in a rhythmic Strawberry Fields-era Beatles use of a Mellotron while the vocal and lyrics add a folk music feel. Of course, it would be hard to ignore the rock-solid crunch of a fat drum break that holds the whole thing together though. A little bit unusual but that’s what makes it such a great trip. Man.
