BETTY BLACK & THE FAMILY FORTUNE: Sweet Dreams (SMOOVE Extended Remix)

His birth name lost in the mists of time, there is a producer known to many as Smoove – even his mum apparently. Famed far and wide for heavy duty remixes (when he’s not creating original material with Turrell of course) in styles as varied as disco, boogie, hip-hop and funk, he likes to drop 7″s, 12″s and occasionally whole LPs of said reworks. So prolific has his career been that the name Berry Geordie was bestowed on him by the monkey many years ago and it continues to be entirely apt. The newest proof of this is surely his drums of death b-boy remix of the sixties-style cover of The Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams by the UK’s Queen of Soul a.k.a. Ms Betty Black. The original was plenty dancefloor-oriented itself but Smoove bigs up the breaks on the remix ensuring that no b-boy, or b-girl, or anyone else for that matter can resist a shimmy. The Sweet Dreams Extended Smoove Remix is the first single to be released off the forthcoming third volume of Smoove’s Heavy Goods series.
