Truth & Soul Records co-founder (alongside Leon Michels), J. Dynamite (Jeff Silverman to his parents) has had a finger in lots of funk soul pies for a long time. He was one of the producers on Aloe Blac”s Good Things LP for example and a soundtrack producer for Rockstar Games on for exmample GTA V (Grand Theft Auto m’lud) but he’s never stepped out as an artist in his own right. Until now. Say hello to his first single Re-education which schools you first in how to do sixties soundtrack late-night jazz and after half a minute of that, how to lay a fat uptempo drum break under the flute and Rhodes in a way that says both ‘far out brother’ and ‘groovy baby’ simultaneously. Re-Education is the first single off forthcoming album The Powers That Be and features (among others) members of Antibalas, El Michels Affair and Leonhart Brass Band.
