TRU FUNK presents MORLACK & DJ AXE: Funk Machines (2013)

It’s a game of two halves from Tru Funk as DJ Axe and Morlack go head-to-head for this six-tracker. Axe rocks a ghetto Funky Jam by popular demand, goes a bit midtempo chill for a Bush Tucker Snack and finally employs a bit of Blowfly when he gets Totally Fried. Morlack’s disco-hop, electro-boogie counter-attack dominates the field however. He gives free reign to his eighties on Summer Lover and is clearly struggling to hold back Nasty-era Janet Jackson-isms on Suspicious but it’s the huge Happy Hip-hop (when you can practically see him prancing around the studio singing, ‘I got all my sisters with me’) that assures dancefloor victory. Clearly, here is a man who knows his ladies – though, the warping middle eight indicates a canny ear for total crowd dancefloor participation. On a stadium scale.
