The Sorcerers are back with a new long player in the middle of next month entitled Other Worlds And Habitats. Before that lands on Earth though, here’s the first single Beneath The Dunes. Hmm – dunes, other worlds and habitats? Are you getting Arrakis vibes? I know I am. Mind you, this is the band that dropped the hypnotic Ethio-funk classic In Pursuit Of Shai Hulud back in 2018 so they’ve got form when it comes to alien sands. And where does Shai Hulud live on Arrakis? Beneath the dunes of course! But where their track named after the sandworms of sci-fi’s favourite desert planet placed the rhythmic emphasis on the funk, The Sorcerers’ Beneath The Dunes foregrounds the Ethio influences instead though it’s no less evocative and will have you moving like you’re doing the Fremen sand-walk. Watch out for the tempo change towards the end which might evoke a colossal sandworm exploding up into daylight. Tread carefully now – no regular movements!
