THE MOSE DILLON BLUESTETTE: Rejoice In Righteousness / Mighty Righteous (Vinyl 7″)

Next up from Si Cheeba’s Echo Labs on 45 – a discovery made by DJ Chris Bangs on the outer reaches of the internet – namely two unreleased tracks by little known organist Mose Dillon: Rejoice In Righteousness and Mighty Righteous. That’s a lot of righteousness right there and – as you’ll find out – no small amount of jazziness too. The former is a Hammond-led cover of Bukky Leo’s 80s jazz-dance cut but it’s the latter (nominally a B-side) that MB regulars are far more liable to dig. Why? Because it’s straight up jazz-funk in the late 60s/early 70s Blue Note tradition. All it took was roping in Dr Rubberfunk to assist at giving the tunes a polish so that The Mose Dillon Bluestette were ready to press to wax.
