THE FAITHFUL BROTHERS: Dance My Hurt Away/ Crying Clown (Vinyl 7″)

Hailing from the same Tel Aviv soul scene as Men Of North Country, The Faithful Brothers here drop the first single off their debut long player – Dance My Hurt Away b/w Crying Clown. With a xylophone intro, horn stabs, pounding four to the floor beat, sax bridge and a melody straight out of the mid-sixties there’s no mistaking that this is inspired by northern soul though more modern production touches identify it as having been created more recently. One for the Modern Room perhaps? Over on the flip, it’s all about Crying Clown which has funkier, more syncopated production and a grooving organ but is no less a lover letter to the same era of soul. Check the A-side video out below which has animated dancers shuffling and spinning to lyrics about not wanting the night to end.
(Out 7 July on Mr Mellow’s Music)
