SOUL SUGAR feat. LEO CARMICHAEL: Never Too Much (Vinyl 12″)

SOUL SUGAR feat. LEO CARMICHAEL: Never Too Much (Vinyl 12Cementing their credentials as purveyors of the smoochiest late night reggae soul covers, Soul Sugar return with their extended ‘Discomix’ cover of Luther Vandross’s early 80s anthem Never Too Much on vinyl 12″. And while they might not be wearing massive shiny suits like old ‘Velvet Voice’ (well, you have to assume no-one else would want to wear that sort of getup anyway), where could they find a man both willing and depraved enough to sound like he was yet who also possessed the requisite fanny magnet of a voice? Enter frequent collaborator Leon ‘none so smooth’ Carmichael to capably fill the role. Too much soul and not enough reggae in the Discomix for you? Step forward remixer Adam Prescott with some digi-reggae stylings. Like the high soul quotient but want a bit more Jamaica in the beat? Step forward – good lord! – none other than Sly & Robbie – who are themselves never too much of a good thing, I think you’ll agree.
