Big Crown Records continue their services to your pockets with yet another re-press of a super rare funky grail. This time it’s the Soul Explosives’ bumping funk groove Tryin’ To Get Down with an cover of Bill Withers’ contemplative number Ain’t No Sunshine on the flip complete with drum break around the end of the first minute. Not bad for a Texan high school band (yes, I did say high school band), Soul Explosives, who were only in existence from 1971 to ’72 and paid to have the original (copies of which now trade for three figure sums) recorded and pressed themselves. No audio for the A-side, weirdly, but check the B-side below.
