SOUL DYNAMITE 45: Wah Wah Wah (MARC HYPE & JIM DUNLOOP) / Bulgarianized (HUCKSPIN & MONOPHONIC)(Vinyl 7″)

SOUL DYNAMITE 45: Wah Wah Wah (MARC HYPE & JIM DUNLOOP) / Bulgarianized (HUCKSPIN & MONOPHONIC)[RATING: 5] Boo! and, indeed, yakka! – as new label Soul Dynamite 45s release what is effectively a double A-side 7″ featuring funky breaks cuts from two world-class production teams: Marc Hype & Jim Dunloop’s Wah Wah Wah and Huckspin & Monophonic’s Bulgarianized. Nothing so conventional or mundane as a mere A and AA denotation for Soul Dynamite though – they’re going for ‘Green’ side and ‘Red’ side. And there’s nothing mundane about the beats contained thereon either. Wah Wah Wah finds Hype & Dunloop construct a b-boy friendly paean to history’s greatest guitar pedal replete with funky drums, a bit of wah wah (surprisingly) and vintage audio samples of someone explaining what said pedal is and does. Meanwhile on the flip, Huckspin & Monophonic cut up Dimitar Valchev’s early 70s communist-era cut A Bulgarian Rose to prompt yet more dancefloor antics with Bulgarianized.
(Out 6 March (approx.) on Soul Dynamite)
