Originally intended as a homage to blaxploitation soundtracks (and still retaining that musical lineage very clearly), Silver Skylarks single Power Moves is a b-boy-friendly uptempo number that gains additional leverage from a Moog intro and a vocal hook from Austin duo of US! As if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a remix featuring rap legend Kool G Rap laying it all down on the mic. Oh yeah – did I mention that it features guitar by Black Pumas’ Adrian Quesada too? No? Well it does. The single is lifted from debut Silver Skylarks album The Number One Set And Sound which found the duo of Danny Balis Jeff “Skin” Wade transforming a slew of Balis’ lockdown demos into a dancefloor crate classic. The single is also accompanied by a slightly shorter radio edit.
