It’s Oz ahoy as Pecoe & Boydex team up for their Have Faith EP – a four-tracker that reveals a range of influences coming to bear on the party breakbeat template. Bring The Heat is conventional enough funky boom bap-powered action using vocal loops (including one from Biggie) and Go provides more of the same while Disco Fever (as the name suggests) edges towards cheesy disco – aided and abetted by a sax drenching. That just leaves the title track with it’s even cheesier re-purposing of pop-house ditching the original’s beat in favour of a vastly improved syncopated one. But does it work? I suspect Pecoe & Boydex will be arguing that you need to ‘have faith.’
