Ever reliable, Breakbeat Paradise regular Pecoe is back for new outing Get The Funk – a title which conveys precisely what you will receive from this payload of four super-phat mid-tempo dancefloor bangers. Proceedings commence with the title track that you’d have to be a sucker not to dig and will put dimples in your smile. Opening with an old school female MC over a disco breakin’ beat, things soon step up a notch with the arrival of additional squelchy guitar wah while, up next, the big-ass Oh My Gawd is also guitar-led breakbeat funk and features a heavy synth breakdown. Hot as the first two cuts are, Girls That Go Boom ups the game a notch further with a briskly pumping rhythm and then, finally, it’s the turn of the antsy Baby It’s You – again old school raps over a beat flavoured with jangly funk guitar and I’m not sure this isn’t my favourite. You’d like to think a couple of these will feature on a future BBP Toxic Funk 45!
