PAUL SITTER: Hip-Hop Delivery (The Remixes Vol. 2)

It’s the second bite of the cherry for the BBP remix pack as an even larger group of producers get their hands on the stems of tracks off Paul Sitter’s rather good Hip-Hop Delivery LP from last year for The Remixes Vol. 2. Weighing in at nine tracks, this one is three longer than Vol. 1. Label head honcho Badboe is up first transforming the sparse 90s-style boom-bap of Sitter’s original beat for the Craig G-featuring Global Chemistry into a chunky slab of funky breakbeat and he’s followed by DiscObeta who make over the dextrous spaghetti western breaks of B-Boy Impressions into a characteristic DiscObeta-ish juggernaut. Omegaman does the opposite, taking the heavy crunch of Wild Thing into a more uptempo dancefloor slice of b-boy goodness while Pecoe applies a twenty-first century funk breaks aesthetic to King Of Rock, as does Dal Platinum on the Dr Syntax-featuring It’s On Like That. The remaining tracks find The Fritz going all downtempo on the Andy Cooper-featuring Go Move, two further remixes of It’s On Like That from Super Saturated (funky house – gahhh!) and Waggles (moombahton) and another rerub of King Of Rock from Crash Party in a big beat stylee which has more energy than a creche-full of three year olds. Which is a lot of energy, I think you’ll agree.
