[RATING: 5] Got the chills and shakes? Don’t worry, there’s a strong chance you’ve picked up ska fever rather than Covid what with a new variant of Original Gravity Records reggae-related output in the offing in the form of Ska Fever Vol. 1 45. This drop features four tracks supplied by no fewer than three of label owner Neil Anderson’s nom-de-plumes (at least one of which seems to be yet another new one) and there are no prizes at all for guessing that it’s Anderson’s ska chops on show. ‘Melbourne Douglas’ recently appeared on early reggae showcase 45 Reggae Dynamite Vol. 2 and kicks off the A-side with the Lord Tanamo-esque Follow Me while ‘Prince Alphonso & The Fever’ grace both sides with one track apiece – the frantic ska instro A Fistful Of Dollars and the organ-drenched Killer Diller. It is Junior Del & The D-Lites – the newest of Anderson’s alter-egos – who take the Fred Perry laurel on this one though with the irresistably skankin’ Miss Aranivah, in what appears to be a vocal tribute to the Brazilian Youtube retro-dancing sensation!

Such a great collection of new tunes done the old fashioned way. I’m really digging what Original Gravity has been doing!
