MORLACK: Closet Freak EP

MORLACK: Closet Freak EPSurely the most prolific artist on BBP’s roster – even if he’s been relatively quiet of late – Morlack returns with brand new EP, Closet Freak. And if you know Morlack, you’ll know that’s surely an ironic title since he’s never been shy about being freaky with the beats. This one opens with a pumping synth-drenched bass n breaks edit of Motown classic Papa Was Rolling Stone while the remaining four cuts –  the title track, Plastic Love (a name to conjure with, if ever there was one), It Gets To Me and Freakout 2020 – are Frankenstein’s monsters of boogie basslines, 80s R&B vox and synths and rapped vocals. Now then – is it me or does that artwork remind you of the cover to the first Human Centipede flick?
(Out 25 June on Breakbeat Paradise)
