With LP Soul Woman dropping at the end of the week, their surely couldn’t be time for one more Michelle David & The True-Tones single before that could there? There could! That’ll be the galloping psychedelic soul of Golden Sun then – harking back to an era when The Temptations started experimenting with acid-era stylings. MD’s own trip to the psychedelic shack is of the uptempo variety underpinned by a stomping four-to-the-floor northern soul rhythm so it’s more the backing of the, by turns, jangly then fuzzy spaghetti western guitar on the stripped back verses and the swirling organ uplift on the rich chorus that give the music a purple paisley makeover. If you’ve heard the previous singles, you’ll know the LP is going to be a real treat – more on that very shortly.
