BIG BOSS MAN: Don’t Take My Baby Away (Vinyl 7″)

Heard about the new Big Boss Man album Join The Jet Set but wondered why there was no accompanying 45? Wonder no more for here it is – Don’t Take My Baby Away b/w If I Had To Do It All Again concurrently released with the LP today. Both tracks feature Charlotte Benson on vocals who delivers blue-eyed soul in abundance. The first is the album’s opener and after a clattery Roy Budd-style jazz-funk intro heads into a main course of a northern soul stomper. However, it’s trumped by B-side If I Had To Do It All Again which while remaining suitably modly is both funkier and, for the monkey at least, the stronger tune.
