Max Beesley? Actor Max Beesley? Hotel Babylon Max Beesley? The very same, but let’s not forget he is also accomplished session musician Max Beesley who has toured with Stevie Wonder, Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, Incognito and Zero 7 – to name but a few. Oh – and back in the day when ‘acid jazz’ was king, he dropped two 12″s under the name he’s using for this release – a.k.a. Max Beesley’s High Vibes. And so to this, Ice – all crunchy drum break, piano lead and horns – not to mention the second single to be lifted from his debut long player Zeus, due shortly. The music for the LP is the result of Beesley calling on a host of talented session musicians to help. And Ice is anything to go by, that’ll be a major payload of retro film score-style jazz-funk. High vibes indeed.
