Blimey – it’s been a while hasn’t it? Nearly two years since the last Mako & Mr Bristow release on Soul Flip and more than four whole years since the last Stank Soul Edits drop! But now they’re back – with more of those good ‘ol funky soul edits on 45 and in this case two mighty slabs of obscure sister funk. The source for A side One Sweet Bomb lacked the drums to really cut it while the source for AA-side Why Do You Bass Me Up? was originally released without any bassline at all. The boys have put these things right and made additional arrangement tweaks besides so that this brace of bangers can now cut it with the finest of the original 60s/70s golden era. And that all-new classic 60s-style bassline for the AA side? The creation of The Hawk – sometime of Mako & The Hawk which means this release finally sees a collaboration between Mako and both his musical sparring partners. A very merry early Christmas y’all!
