Er – wasn’t 2023 supposed to be the last ever London International Ska Festival? Seems reports of the event’s death have been greatly exaggerated for, yes, said festival is very much returning for 2024 (for its thirty-sixth year no less!) across Good Friday 29 and Saturday 30 March. Ah right – so it’s a day shorter than in times of yore? Well, yes, but the format seems otherwise much the same. Lots of bands and artists across the ska, rocksteady, reggae and dancehall spectrum from the veteran to the contemporary will appear including sometime Massive Attack collaborator Horace Andy, fellow Studio One luminary Johnny Osbourne, Misty In Roots, Dave Barker (a.k.a. Dave from Dave & Ansell Collins), Barry Biggs, Winston Groovy, Potato 5, Pama International, Louchie Lou & Michie One, and the Wrongtom Dub Show alongside a host of DJs. And where will this lineup be performing? In Camden at The Electric Ballroom and Dingwalls! Nothing on the Thames then? No more Dixie Queen paddle steamer? Are you kidding? Of course, there’ll be events on the Dixie Queen – you can’t have the LISF without Dixie Queen action! Tickets and further information HERE.
