Bit of Brazilian fuzz-funky hip-hop action for you here in the shape of Laìz & The New Love Experience with their tribute to 70s Brazilian funk and Jorge Ben Jor & Quarteto Em Cy in particular – Se Segura (Hold On). A spin on Jorge Ben’s eco-themed Salva O Verde (Save The Green), Laiz’ version has a hook that re-imagines the ‘green’ as cold cash money and the pressing need to save it from the sort of right-wing headbangers who bankroll tyrants. The original comes in two versions – the slightly shorter vinyl 7″ length take and the slightly longer non-45 one. Any chance of a remix too? Yep – hold on (thank you, I’m here all week!) there it is – nearly a minute shorter but several kilos heavier than the original because it’s toting a hefty drum break from none other than…The Allergies!
