KURIOUS: Unknown Species

DOOM cohort Kurious a.k.a. Kurious Jorge first dropped recorded bars in the early 90s and, still going strong, has a new LP, entitled Majician, out in October. Before that, here’s lead single Unknown Species which finds Mr K taking things right back, seemingly taking inspiration from hip-hop’s earliest sonic incarnation i.e. prior to the first studio recorded efforts like Rapper’s Delight and King Tim III to when the first MC’s were going hard live over funk instrumentals. The backing is solidly seventies funky and the hook-less lyrics recall the freestyles of the early days. Vid. below – watch and learn!
