Pssst – a word in your shell-like – Sheffield artist, illustrator, print-maker and emcee Kid Acne is having an exhibition called Have A Word in Sheffield. Ooh! Could that be an exhibition of KA’s lyrics and typography? I think it could. Turns out the exhibition simultaneously joins the dots between Acne’s musical and art-based creative output whilst functioning as an advert for his forthcoming LP which is also, (what are the chances?), entitled Have A Word and out on LEX in the autumn. The exhibition takes place in Sheffield’s S1 Artspace and features ‘letter-based works informed by…lyrics,’ from the new album inside with ‘large scale slogan pieces’ outside. And since we’re joining dots, you’ll want to know that the album (the product of a collaboration over eighteen months with Chicago producer Spectacular Diagnostics) features guest appearances from New Kingdom, Juice Aleem and Juga-Naut. If only you could get your hands on a copy early at the exhibition. You can!? When is it? Get your arse down there between 13-28 September, between the hours of 12-5pm, Wednesday to Saturday and you might get lucky. Check the first single, Crest Of A Wave, feat. Nosaj below as they cascade cadence and unique turns of phrase over fresh beat arrangements!
