In a bid to increase its market share of library music (not to mention corner the market in punning LP titles), label King Underground is shortly to launch new library style drop Hidden Cymbals, showcasing the skills of session musician and drum teacher Karl Morgan. The release includes seven full compositions in a cinematic soul vein accompanied by the drum and the bass stems for said compositions (the latter courtesy of bassist Daverage J Normal) along with fills, one shots and that ol’ breaks/ hip-hop producers ‘must’ – fifteen bonus breaks. Recorded last year over two days in London by a man well-known to hip-hop sample heads – i.e. one Lewis Parker (who also mixed it), the project received final mastering at the hands of veteran mastering engineer, Pete Norman. Hidden Cymbals is the third in KU’s ‘Recorded Music Library’ series created with a KPM/ DeWolfe 70s vibe and follows In The Pocket from sticksman (and snooker fan), Jonny Drop and Simon Plays from New Mastersounds drummer (and nursery game fan), Simon Allen.
(Out 17 July on King Underground)
