It’s been a while since the monkey last posted about any releases from Original Gravity – not for want inclination you understand – it’s just that the label’s capacity to drop releases has outpaced the monkey’s current capacity for posts. Words just had to be written on this new 45 early reggae drop from Junior Dell & The D-Lites though. Why? Because it’s the label’s most convincing ‘sound of ’69’ release to date, that’s why – and that’s going some given the quality of what’s come before. Can’t Stop The Reggae features a vocal plugging the irresistibility of the heavy, heavy monster sound with all the energy of Roy Shirley on Dance The Reggay, The Tennors on Reggay Dance or The Maytals on their (totally different) cut also called Reggay Dance – and in the same lilting style which is a bit different to the more usual chugging OG boss reggae sound. Banger! If a more chugging riddim’s what you want though, you’ll find it over on the flip in the form of Dis Yah Master Blaster from Woodfield Road Allstars with the occasional bit of toasting over the top.
