JStar’s a man I like to keep tabs on and he’s been keeping himself busy lately with a number of projects – and here are two of them. The most recent of these sees him dub-versioning The Unlimiters’ reggae cut Loophole. You know the sort thing – more echo than a Victorian public toilet and bass so tangible a couple of stoned white-dreads are actually using it to sleep under. This appears on the recently released In Dub EP which re-imagines a number of Unlimiters tracks. The slightly older project is a brace of classic JStar reggae booties – the midtempo club banger One Life One Hope featuring the appearance of a very famous lyric by a certain Mr Manuva and my favourite, Taxi Damaja, a downtempo bounce which makes inspired use of street verse from one Jeru, known as the Damaja. I had it on good authority a week ago that there were only 49 copies still available from the Nice Up store HERE. So don’t sleep – you’ll only be playin yaself!
