It’s not always about the dancefloor funk on German label Golden Rules’ contemporary funk-soul sampler LP series The Originals and here’s the new soul ballad Saved from Mr Bongo’s Glenn Fallows to prove it. The track features the impressive vocals of U.S.-born singer Michelle David who channels all the best soul sirens of the sixties with a highly emotive paean to a loved one over a tremolo-guitar-drenched slo-mo rhythm. If you’ve caught both fourteen-track Vols. 1 and 2 of The Originals and you’ve been paying attention this year, you’ll know this is the twelfth track to be released ahead of Vol. 3 and thus able to divine that, there are probably only two more cuts to come which means the vinyl LP should also hove into view shortly.
