By way of (re-)announcing the fact that they’ve embarked on a mission to version some classic bangers, dub-breaks veterans Dub Pistols have dropped their take on Kaiser Chiefs’ I Predict A Riot. Apparently the band used to play the track during their sound checks for a laugh and it turns out the more they did it, the more it, ‘came together.’ If you know the Pistols’ discography, you’ll know that precisely how it ‘came together’ could have gone in multiple directions though in this case they’ve opted for a splendidly dubbed-out skank with a steppers rhythm and a bongload of echo. Strictly speaking this came out last autumn – at least in vinyl format – but due to lack of radio promo at the time, there was little fanfare. Here’s to more of that this time around – or indeed a riot. Thank you, I’m here all week. The wax is still available (in red vinyl no less) and the flip features Manasseh’s dub remix.
