Original Gravity hits gold yet again; I don’t know how they do it. This time, Donnoya Drake and the Original Gravity crew deliver two different versions of The Maytones’ early Trojan reggae classic Loving Reggae – in both reggae and rocksteady versions. The reggae version plays it pretty close to the original, mainly converting it into a sister reggae version with Drake vocals instead of the original’s male close vocal harmonies and falsetto background vocals. So far, so good but it’s the rocksteady take that goes the extra mile with the inspired addition of a flute on the intro giving the rocksteady an unusual and decidedly psychedelic/ folk twist.
