DJAR ONE (feat. CARPETFACE): 1-2-3-4-5 Wake Up! (2015)

Christ! No chance of a snooze with Djar One in the area as the French dj/ producer/ MC gets his uprock on in the form of 1-2-3-4-5 Wake Up!. The intro to the A-side kicks off with a cockerel, a vocal loop shouting ‘Wake Up’ and the sound of an alarm clock. And that’s before UK emcee Carpetface is let loose to work his thing over a swinging big band sample of the kind oft-favoured by UD and windmilling drums beloved of bboys. Over on flip The Psycho Break, Moondeep and Incredeeple vie to see who can cut faster over a psych-rock sample and hectic percussion. Which again, isn’t likely to lull you to sleep. Time to get the mat out then! Not to mention the hat and the Pumas!
