As is the done thing in some quarters of the 45-slingers circle, DJ Pnutz has decided to celebrate her forty-fifth circuit of the sun with a 45 release. But there are rumours that Happy Birthday DJ Pnutz might be her last 45 release! Whaaaaaat? Noooo! ‘Fraid so but if you are kissing goodbye to the 7″, when better to do it than when you’re 45? The A-side, entitled appropriately enough Seasoned Woman is an uptempo breaker-friendly affair with windmilling drum breaks, fuzz-bass and psych guitar inspired by Fatboy Slim, while B-side 45 DJ features Steven Flex on the cut and is in Pnutz’ own words, “a heavy-hitting Chemical Brothers-influenced track.” Fat drum breaks, old school hip-hop cuts and funky clav abound amid the clun-friendly builds and the drops.
