[RATING: 5] DJ Maars has held the reggae-hip-hop mashup crown for some years now, regularly supplying DJs with weapons-grade blends and so far out in front of the field that he is practically his only competition. For lesser producers, this might result in a slackening of focus and watering down of output but Maars is clearly not a man to tolerate any challenge – even if it comes from himself. Step forward DJ Maars then to see off – er – DJ Maars with ltd. white and yellow splatter vinyl 45 On It b/w Pull Up, the former of which tracks finds the mighty Luniz astride a suitably stoned and rootsy rhythm. This cut alone would be enough to ensure sureshot status but Maars then goes and tops that with the flip on which Konshens and the sadly departed J Capri pull up to each other’s bumpers over the slightly sped-up beat of Cypress Hill’s When The Shit Goes Down. Which it certainly will when punters hear this. It’s the second instalment in Maars’ new series of 7″s and there are only 300 copies. Better act now!
