It’s all the ‘D’s time as Atlanta MC Dillon Maurer teams up with a man whose steelo is tight because he’s by far the best producer on the mic a.k.a Bronx legend and Diggin In The Crates crew founder member Diamond D. It’s something of a hip-hop ‘occasion’ then and what you might even call a Black Tie Affair – these two certainly have. Just to clairify though (wordsmith though he undoubtedly is) Mr D stays firmly behind the mixing desk on this project though Dillon does make room on the mic for another of his collaborators – Paten Locke on the appropriately-titled Double Up. Of particular note on the drop are the noir-ish tale of Femme Fatale on which Dillon treats us to a tale of falling victim to man’s ruin over a jazz-flavoured slice of Diamond D’s boom-bap courtesy and funky-fresh brag rap Let The Horns Blow. Cop the drop on vinyl as one of a limited run of 500 pressings – the only physical format this is available on; check the video for Feast below.
