BOSSA 70: Think (Retro Roland Riso Perfecto rework)/ Get Out Of My Way (Retro Roland Riso Eterno Regroove) (Vinyl 7″)

BOSSA 70: Think (Retro Roland Riso Perfecto rework)/ Get Out Of My Way (Retro Roland Riso Eterno Regroove) (Vinyl 7[RATING: 5] If you dig Latin funk and you dug the last Bossa 70 7″ put out by the ever-reliable Matasuna Records, you’ll absolutely shit when you hear this 45. Whereas the last one featured two cuts re-mastered straight from the original 70s master tapes, this drop is all about DJ Retro Roland Riso’s edits of Bossa 70’s versions of Think and Get Out Of My Way. Both instros, the tracks are also both dancefloor sureshots. On the B-side it’s all about giving the band’s cover of Joe Torres’ ’67 Latin boogaloo cut some extra heft in the beat department and additional percussion to move the crowd. Which is all well and good, but topping even that is the super-Latin-funky A-side. Nominally it’s a cover of the classic Aretha banger though if nobody told you, you probably wouldn’t clock it until the ‘Freedom, freedom, freedom!’ bit. But by that time you wouldn’t care anyway as you’d be all hands in the air.
(Out 13 December on Matasuna Records)
