Conte Crux might sound like he’s the maker of bespoke kitchens but he’s actually the maker of bespoke hard n crunchy, uptempo (since there’s nothing on the Freak Money EP under 125 bpm) breaks with a funky twist. Such is the latest sonic location for a man whose musical journey has taken him through the badlands of hard trance from an original old skool jungle embarkation point. The crux of the matter here though (thank you I’m here all week) is four breaks tunes that nod to funkiness in a choice of samples that includes, Missy Eliot, KC & The Sunshine Band, Q-Tip and C&C Music Factory (plus a myriad of old skool noises) but are still the type to lurk in the shadows outside the local offy and fuck you up if you look at them wrong.
