Wasn’t it the late great Rufus Thomas who said, “Get up on your feet and then you start to move,”? I’m not sure what he had in mind was Cockney Nutjob‘s third outing for the Radical Mixtape label but to some extent that’s academic as the parping bass-horns which form an integral part of the powerful skanking title track along with the various chopped-up well-known vocal snippets that adorn it are hardly the soundtrack to meditation or quiet reflection. Over on the flip CN goes for a more understated slab of insistent and funky sub-bass antics. Props to the Nutjob then for consistently managing thoroughly modern breaks without resorting to cheese and Radical Mixtape for repping the man when others haven’t. Their loss.
