Somehow the monkey missed this one when posting about the imminent release of Mike Bandoni’s Something Wonderful single off the forthcoming vinyl release of Golden Rules’ contemporary funk and soul sampler The Originals Vol. 3 – for it should have been news of Brother Lee’s Winter Sky up first. Clearly a man who understands what the words ‘fat drum break’ really mean, Lee ensures the track kicks off with massive one and keeps that rocking for a good few bars before he brings in the bass. Then he keeps drums and bass rocking for a good few more bars until some nastayyy guitar comes in – and then a harpsichord – and finally a flute. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, we’re in psych-funk territory and it feels pretty comfortable right about now.
