When it comes to sticking it to the man it doesn’t get much bigger than this. Gil Scott-Heron collaborator from back in the day, Brian Jackson, has rewritten and re-arranged the mighty The Revolution Will Not Be Televised for a new era. Of course, this warrants epic production and an epic voice. Step forward Masters At Work (a.k.a. Louie Vega and Kenny Dope) who give things some true school hip-hop chunk and The Roots’ Black Thought with the requisite gravitas and fire. And let’s not forget Jackson’s contribution of some flute to provide that jazzy, psychedelic counterpoint to the lyrical urgency. The track features on forthcoming Brian Jackson LP Now More Than Ever. Altogether now, “You will not be able to gaslight brother/ You will not be able to block, unfollow, mute or swipe left to disengage with the revolution/ It will be immersive, live-streaming in its entirety and uninterrupted on every platform…”.
