Funky breaks dream team The Breakbeat Junkie and DJP hook-up again and cook up some new heat for the Big M label – three joint efforts and DJP’s solo banger Say Word. I’m always a sucker for party hip-hop so it’s the latter that takes my fancy the most with its inspired employment of Treacherous Three and solo Spoonie G vocals. You can’t get much more old school than that and the results sound like the kind of hook-laden feel-good track that seems perpetually just beyond People Under The Stairs grasp. Nice one DJP. The remaining three joint effort – er – joints are more typical ghetto funk/ funky breaks fare, bpms around the 120 – 130 mark, sped-up hip-hop vocals on the first, another breakbeat outing for S.O.U.L.’s Burning Spear on the next and the disco-tinged closer Get Down. Which is what you’ll be doing by the time you get there. Check the whole release on the Juno player and get better quality of two tracks on the soundcloud players below that…
