BACAO RHYTHM & STEEL BAND: Nautilus (Vinyl 7″)

When not unleashing their own original steel drum-led funk material, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band can usually be found plying their other stock-in-trade – to wit, steel drum-led covers of hip-hop classics. Here, on the second single in advance of the Bacao-showcasing Big Crown Vaults Vol. 4 (due early next month) they can be found doing the latter with a very funky cover of Bob James’ Nautilus – a track which has been sampled by everyone from Slick Rick to Freddie Gibbs and everyone in between including Ghostface Killah, ATCQ and Eric B & Rakim. Altogether now – da-da, da, da, da-dah-da!
(Out now (digital)/ 5 May (vinyl) on Big Crown Records)
