Bombstrikes’ hugely successful 45s series continues apace with the latest instalment arriving next week and featuring remixes of cuts by label stalwart Ali B. First up is the Jim Sharp rerub of our man’s Swing It collab. with South African-American emcee Afika NX. Gone are the original’s abrasive Miami bass stylings and, in their place, Sharp delivers a lady-friendly boom-bap club groove with mellow synth and sax chords over robust 115 bpm drums. On the flip the Beatvandals take on Music Saves Me feat. legendary Jungle Brother, Baby Bam. Once again, the stuttery beat and synth-n-bass futurisms of the original are shown the exit but this time the remix takes on a pumping disco-breakin direction that also has lady-magnet written all over it. And as club DJs well know – where the ladies go, the men follow.
